Men’s Track & Field Runs Sixth at Falcon Invite

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team placed sixth out of 13 teams at the Falcon Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday and Saturday.

The Saints finished with 44 points, 10 points behind Augsburg College in fifth. The host, UW-River Falls won the event with 221 points.

Action began on Friday for Connor Stevens (Madison, Wis./Monona Grove HS) in the Decathlon. Five of the events would take place with Stevens' highest finish being ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.96 seconds. He then finished the Decathlon events on Saturday with a fourth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run, posting a time of 4:43.92. He also had a pair of eighth-place finishes in the pole vault and javelin throw to finish with a program record 5,076 points and in 10th place overall.

In other events on Friday, Christopher Doran (Royalton, Minn./Andover HS) was sixth in the javelin throw with a mark of 147'6” (44.96m). Tom Lyscio (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) was seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 167'5” (51.04m).

Moving onto Saturday, Alex Horoshak (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) would place third in the long jump with a leap of 20'7.75” (6.29m). Justin Hanson (Atwater, Minn./Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City HS) placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles finishing in 57.31 seconds. Also placing fourth was the 4x100-meter relay team of Sherome Milon (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), Hanson, Horoshak and Addison Griffin (Superior, Wis./Superior HS (UW-River Falls)) in a time of 43.97 seconds.

Griffin finished seventh in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 11.66 seconds. Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) was seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:36.90.

Lyscio was also seventh in the shut put with a toss of 42'4.75” (12.92m) and John Howard (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) was eighth in the discus with a distance of 143'11” (43.87m).

The Saints are scheduled to take part in the Twin Ports Twilight on Tuesday at UMD. Weather will dictate if the meet will take place. Stay tuned to csssaints.com for future information.
