DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team began its dual match outside and finished inside, but fell to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-1 on Friday afternoon.

The teams began play at Duluth Central High School. All three doubles were able to finish with Blugolds taking all three. The Saints led 6-5 in two of those matches.

The rains then came and the players were forced to relocate to Burns Wellness Fieldhouse on campus. The lone winner for the Saints would be Megan Lawrence (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) at No. 5 singles by score of  6-2, 6-3. Both Rachael Zwiener (St. Cloud, Minn./Home School) at No. 2 and Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) at No. 3 fell in third set super-breakers.

The Blugolds, who are ranked 22nd in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional rankings, improve to 14-5 this season.

The Saints (10-6) will be in action twice tomorrow as they will begin with a conference dual match against North Central University at 11 a.m. They then will face Bethany Lutheran College at approximately 2 p.m.
