Results
The CSS women's tennis team cruised to victory over the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings 9-0 at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter on Friday.
This shutout victory marks the third for CSS this season with the other two coming against Concordia University (Wis.) and Edgewood College on consecutive days in early March.
The Saints were perfect in doubles play as No. 1 team
Rachael Zwiener (St. Cloud, Minn./Home School) and
Hillary Bungarden (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS), No. 2 team
Megan Lawrence (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) and
Cortne Solberg (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) and No. 3 team of
Pamela Hartley (Lima, Peru/Franklin Roosevelt College) and
Aleksandra Ochrymowicz (Winnipeg, Manitoba/St. Mary’s Academy) all had 8-0 match wins over the Vikings.
The Saints' No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches were all complete shutouts as well as Bungarden, Lawrence and Ochrymowicz all won 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
Zweiner took the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-2 while Solberg won her No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-0 and Hartley took the No. 6 match 6-1, 6-0.
Lawrence continues her success winning her fifth straight match and improving to 7-3. Zwiener improves to 7-4 with the win while Solberg is now 7-3. Bungarden is back above the .500 mark with the win and is now 7-6 this season.
Bungarden and Zwiener earn their first victory as a doubles pair and are now 1-2 on the year.
The Saints (7-5, 1-0 UMAC) will take the court again Saturday for another conference match against the North Central Rams (0-0) at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis at 4 p.m.
