MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Seven members of the St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field teams took part in the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina over the last three days and went on to break three program records.

Competition began Thursday for Tracy Perish (Browerville, Minn./Browerville HS) in the heptathlon and she would go on to set personal best marks in the first four events to put herself in good position for the final three events on Friday.

In the final two events Friday, Perish would win the javelin throw with a toss of 119'3” (36.36m). She followed that by winning the 800-meter run with a time of 2:26.42. That gave her a final point total of 4,383 points, breaking her previous program record by 250 points to place seventh overall. The 4,383 points would have ranked her 21st last season in Division III. The top 22 athletes in each event will qualify for nationals this year.

Also on Friday, Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) broke the hammer throw program record, placing second overall with a distance of 165'11” (50.58m). 2012 NCAA Indoor participant Alec Seeley (Cadott, Wis./Cadott HS) was fourth in that event with a distance of 162'3” (49.45m). Huberty's distance would have been 20th in country last season.

On the men's side in the hammer throw, Tom Lyscio (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) placed fifth in the hammer with a distance of 172'2” (52.47m). Lyscio was unable to get all of his finals throws in due to darkness.

Moving to Saturday, Rachel Miller (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) broke her own program record in the triple jump with a mark of 38'1.5” (11.62m) to finish 10th in that event. Miller qualified for the NCAA outdoor championships last season in the triple jump and she bettered that distance by three centimeters today.

The Saints will have most of their teams in action on Friday, April 6th at the Hamline University Invitational.
