DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team was on the wrong side of a 6-3 decision to open its 2012 season on Saturday at the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.

The loss snaps the Saints' 13-match winning streak, which they had to end last season.

The Cobbers would take two of three doubles matches with the lone CSS win coming from the No. 2 freshmen team of Cortne Solberg (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) and Rachael Zwiener (St. Cloud, Minn./Home School) by a score of 8-3.

Zwiener was also victorious in singles action, winning at the No. 2 spot 6-4, 7-5. Another freshman, Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS), won her match at the No. 3 spot 6-2, 6-3. Concordia took the other four singles matches with a tough loss by Megan Lawrence (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) at No. 6 by scores of 3-6, 6-2, (13-11).

The Saints will be off until Friday, February 17th when they take on the school from down the street in the University of Minnesota-Duluth at the Arrowhead Tennis Center. Action is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
