Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team took advantage of 21 Crown College turnovers and won 90-64 Saturday afternoon at the gym of Crown College.
The opening minutes saw both teams trade basket for basket until the 6:04 mark when the Saints were able to take a seven point lead with a basket by
Kayla Heisler (Remer, Minn./Northland HS). The Saints would take a ten point advantage going into the break.
The second half was all Saints as they never allowed the lead to drop below 12 points as they cruised to a consecutive road conference win, winning by a final score of 90-64.
Crown (1-16) was led by Judy Mundt who would go on to score 26 points, the highest on either team. Three other players scored in double figures as well. The Storm would finish the game shooting 41-percent from the field, 50-percent from three-point land, and 62-percent from the charity stripe. Crown would commit 21 turnovers and collect 36 rebounds.
The Saints were led by
Mariah Hovick (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) who had a team high 18 points. Heisler added 14 while
Lindsey Olson (Port Wing, Wis./South Shore HS) and
Haley Hoyer (Pelican Rapids, Minn./Pelican Rapids HS (North Dakota State College of Science)) each chipped in 12 points.
The Saints would finish shooting 49-percent from the field, 43-percent from beyond the arc, and 56-percent from the charity stripe. The Saints would commit only 11 turnovers and grab 42 total rebounds.
The Saints (9-12, 7-3 UMAC) will host Martin Luther College next Friday with tip time scheduled for 5:30 pm in the Reif Gymnasium. That game can be viewed on Game Central via csssaints.com.
