DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team will travel to Northwestern College to face the Eagles in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament semifinals on Wednesday night.

St. Scholastica Saints (13-12, 10-4 UMAC)
The Saints finished tied with the Eagles for second place in the UMAC standings … With the two teams each beating each other on their own home court and both getting swept  by conference champion Bethany Lutheran College, it came down to Morris defeating the Eagles at Northwestern, while the Saints losing to the Cougars on the road … Thus Northwestern had the better road record and gained the No. 2 seed with that tiebreaker and the Saints the No. 3 seed … The Saints have played Northwestern nine times in the UMAC Tournament since the 1997-98 season with six taking place at Northwestern, three on neutral courts and only one at Reif Gymnasium … CSS is 4-2 all-time in UMAC Tournament games played at Northwestern, including winning four of the last five … Brett Tester (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) has led the Saints all season, averaging 17.2 points per game, but opponents have kept him check as of late as he is only averaged 10.5 points per game in the last four games … Chris Hamers (Onamia, Minn./Onamia HS) is the only other player averaging in double figures at 14.4 per game … Hamers' 92, 3-point field goals was 22-more than the next highest UMAC total … A healthy Derek Steve (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo HS) should also help the Saints on Wednesday after his 13-point performance on Saturday vs. Presentation … Jonah Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) led the conference in assists with 4.6 per game … The Saints led the conference in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.314), while the Eagles led the league 3-point field goal percentage (.400).

Northwestern won the UMAC Tournament last season to gain the conference's first automatic qualifier … The Eagles finished this season strong, winning six of their final seven games … Their lone loss in that stretch came to conference champion Bethany Lutheran College on Friday night 59-56 … The Eagles led the conference in scoring, averaging 71.5 points per game … They also led in scoring defense, allowing only 63.5 points … The Eagles have been led by Wade Chitwood, who is second in the league in scoring with 17.5 points per game … Tom Gisler is the conference's top 3-point shooter as far as percentage goes, making 49-percent of his attempts … Ellis Libby and Aaron Repp are one and two, respectively, in the UMAC in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.3 and 2.1 … Five different Eagles scored in double-figures the last time the Eagles faced the Saints.
