DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team looks to get on track this weekend as it takes on the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the host UW-Superior in the Merrill Thompson Tip-Off Classic. Both games are scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.

About the Saints
Record: 0-2, 0-0 UMAC

• The Saints opened the season with a 31-point defeat to UW-Stout last Friday and fell to Bethel in their second game by 14 on Saturday in the Perkins Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by Bethel.
• Two time All-UMAC first team member and senior captain Brett Tester (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) has paced the Saints with 16.5 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.
• All-UMAC second team member and senior captain Jonah Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) leads the Saints in assists (7 per contest), steals (3 per contest) and free throw percentage (.778), and averages eight points per game, second to Tester.
• The Saints have struggled shooting the ball early this season. The Saints have shot just 7-for-37 from 3-point range, and have a field goal percentage of .387.
• St. Scholastica has also been out-rebounded by opponents 82-60 in the first two games.
• The Saints have also committed 35 turnovers in their first two games, resulting in an opponent field goal percentage of .500.

About the Falcons
Record: 1-1, 0-0 WIAC

• The Falcons were picked fifth in the WIAC Preseason Poll.
• UW-River Falls is coming off a 2011-12 campaign that featured its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance and first-ever WIAC tournament title.
• The Falcons opened their season in the Northwestern College Tournament with a 20-point victory over North Central on Friday, but fell Saturday to the host team Northwestern 69-78.
• The Falcons are led by senior Ollie White, the lone returning starter, who was second on the team with 12.4 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per contest a year ago. He currently averages 16 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
• Arik Smith leads the Falcons in scoring and steals thus far with averages of 18 points and 3.5 steals per game.
• David Berthene is the other Falcon averaging double-digit points per game with 12.
• UW-River Falls has also struggled with turnovers, averaging 15.5 turnovers per game, but also averages ten steals per contest as well.
• Head Coach Jeff Berkhof is just seven victories away from ranking second on the school's all-time wins list.

• UW-Superior welcomes Paul Eberhardt as its new head coach in 2012-13.  He most recently served as the head coach at Scottsdale Community College (Ariz.), and was an assistant coach at Winona State University (Minn.) and UW-River Falls. 
• The Yellowjackets are seeking their fourth straight winning season, which would be the longest streak since a five-year stretch from 1949-53.
• The 'jackets return three starters return from a year ago, including senior Brendan Bauer, who was second on the team with 10.3 points per contest and finished sixth in the WIAC with 5.6 rebounds per game. 
• Junior Bronson Byrne also led the conference with a 64.6 field goal percentage last season. 
• UW-Superior opened its season at home with an 80-51 rout of Northland, but fell in its second game 86-74 to Augsburg.
• The Yellowjackets have been led thus far by junior Jarrod Peterson, who averages 20.5 points per game and has shot 8-for-14 from beyond the arc in the first two contests.
