Box Score MANKATO, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team completed the UMAC regular season undefeated and untied for the first time since 2007 with a 5-0 victory over Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday.
Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) would get the Saints on the board first, scoring in the 23rd minute with
Brandon Scott (Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) credited with the assist. Just over two minutes later
Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) hit the back of the net, with
Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) and
Antony Blackburn (Derby, England/John Port School) adding the assists on the goal.
The Saints would add to their lead when
Erik Trochimchuk (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold HS) netted his 13th goal of the season.
Shay Rabbers (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) chipped in for the assist and CSS would go into halftime up by three.
Tallying his sixth goal of the season at 70:31 was Scott, with Jenkins notching the assist.
Jenkins would strike again with just over a minute left in the game, earning him the title of top goal scorer in the UMAC regular season with 22 goals. Jenkins' 22 goals also tie him for the program record for most goals in a season.
Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) would earn his seventh shutout of the season, making two saves in the win. Hewitt finishes the regular season at the top of the UMAC for both save percentage (0.827), goals against average (0.73) and is tied for least goals against with 13. Vikings keeper Ryan Bolte made eight saves in the loss.
The Saints (14-0-0 UMAC, 16-4-0 overall) will face the Vikings (8-5-1 UMAC, 9-10-1 overall) again on Tuesday in the UMAC tournament semifinal. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m. at Saints Field. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
