Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Eagles

Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team shut out the Northwestern College Eagles with a 3-0 victory on Saturday to remain undefeated in UMAC play.

Scoring remained at a deadlock until Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) tallied his 16th goal of the season at 42:40, putting the Saints up by one heading into the second half.   This signaled the sixth straight conference match that Jenkins has scored in.

Erik Trochimchuk (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold HS) would hit the back of the net at 48:06, netting his 12th goal of the season.  Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) was credited with the assist on the goal, giving him a UMAC leading 18 assists, and marking the sixth straight UMAC game where Watt has recorded at least a point in.

Scoring was closed out by Ben Cullen (Clough, Northern Ireland/Shimna Integrated College) as he notched his third goal of the season in the 81st minute. 

Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) did not have to make a save on the way to earning his fifth shutout of the season.  Hewitt currently leads the UMAC in goals against (8), save percentage (0.849) and goals-against average (0.67).

Eagles keeper Shane Coleman recorded six saves in the loss, the Eagles dropping to 7-6-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the UMAC.

The Saints, now 10-0-0 in UMAC play and 12-3-0 overall, will face UMAC foe University of Minnesota Morris on Friday, kickoff is set 1 p.m. at Morris.  CSS will travel to Crown College on Saturday, game time is for noon.
