The CSS men's hockey team had an offensive explosion in a rout of the #4 University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons 7-1 Saturday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The win over the Falcons (12-5-2, 6-4-2 NCHA) completes the weekend sweep after last night's 3-2 victory and moves the Saints into second place in the NCHA.

CSS began the scoring about eight minutes into the game on a power play opportunity when Chad Golanowski (Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Carroll HS (Calgary Canucks-AJHL) ) netted one on assists from Brenden Bradbury (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Monticello HS/Vincent Massey Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) and Brandon Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial HS (Calgary Royals-AJHL)) for an early 1-0 Saints lead.  The goaltenders would hold strong the rest of the period and CSS went into the first intermission with a 1-0 advantage.

Just two and a half minutes into the second period Ben Beaudoin gave River Falls what ended up being their only goal on an assist from Tyler Briola to make it 1-1.

St. Scholastica took the lead right back two and a half minutes later when Dave Williams (Okotoks, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) scored from Ryne Bodger (Duncan, British Columbia/Cowichan Secondary (Merritt-BCHL) ) and Chris Sinclair (Fort Frances, Ontario/Beaver Brae Secondary (Fort Frances-SIJHL) ) to make it 2-1 Saints.

The Saints second period scoring wasn't over as Tyler Miller (Fort Frances, Ontario/Rainy River HS (Thunder Bay-SIJHL) ) found the back of the net midway through to make it 3-1 Saints.  Sinclair and Jeremy Dawes (Winnipeg, Manitoba/College Jeanne Suave (Portage-MJHL) ) earned assists on the play.  The next ten and a half minutes were scoreless and the scoreboard read 3-1 Saints at the second intermission.

The Saints took advantage of another power play early in the third when Carter Davis (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan/Central Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) put one in on assists from Miller and Austin Brown (Lathrup Village, Mich./Legacy HS (Woodstock-MJAHL) ) to give CSS a 4-1 lead.

It was the 9:23 mark when the Saints offense erupted for three goals in just 37 seconds.  Jeremy Dawes (Winnipeg, Manitoba/College Jeanne Suave (Portage-MJHL) ) put in the first on assists from Sinclair and Cody Danychuk (Biggar, Saskatchewan/Biggar HS (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ).  The second was scored 19 seconds later when Williams notched his second of the night on an assist from Bobby Lipsett (Salmon Arm, British Columbia/Salmon Arm Secondary (Salmon Arm-BCHL) ) to make it 6-1 Saints.  Then at the ten minute mark Nowakowski got in on the scoring when he tallied his ninth goal of the season on assists from Golanowski and Paul Marcoux (Brandon, Manitoba /Vincent Massey Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) to make it 7-1 CSS.

The mayhem faded after that point and the score remained the same when the clock hit zero as the Saints cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Falcons of River Falls.

Colin Rundell (Tees, Alberta/Lacombe Composite (Alaska-Fairbanks) ) had an outstanding night in goal making 22 saves including a few spectacular rebound saves as his record improves to 8-5-3 on the year.

Williams' two goals give him four on the season and he now has six total points.  Sinclair ended up with a hat trick of assists to give him seven on the season.  Dawes, Miller, Davis, Brown, Nowakowski and Golanowski are all in order from second to seventh on the team in total points after tonight.

The Saints (11-5-3, 6-3-3 NCHA) begin travel partner play on Thursday when they travel across the bridge to take on the rival University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets (8-8-3, 3-6-3 NCHA) at Wessman Arena.  The 7:05 puck drop can be heard live on GameCentral portal at csssaints.com.
