Saints Depth Too Much For Crown

| By:
Box Score DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team used streaky shooting and superb defensive pressure to defeat the Crown College Storm Friday night by a score of 89-36 at the Reif Gymnasium.

The teams started out the game fairly even with the teams trading basket for basket.  The Saints would eventually step up the defensive pressure and hot shooting by Kayla Heisler (Remer, Minn./Northland HS) propelled the Saints to 31 point half-time lead.

The second half was much of the same as the Storm never were able to chip into the lead and the Saints were able to use every player on the bench.  The Saints would eventually win 89-36 in front of 300 spectators.

Crown (1-10, 0-3 UMAC) was lead by two players, each scoring 11 points.  The Storm would shoot 27-percent from the field, 23-percent from beyond the arc, and 50-percent from the charity stripe.  They would accumulate 32 rebounds and commit 31 turnovers.

The Saints were paced by Mariah Hovick (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) with 18 points.  Erin Frase (Phillips, Wis./Phillips HS (UW-River Falls)) added 15, Heisler chipped in 14, and Caitlin McKernon (Coon Rapids, Minn./Fridley HS) added 11 off of the bench.  The Saints would shoot 56-percent from the field, 38-percent from beyond the arc, and 60-percent from the charity stripe.  The Saints would garner 42 rebounds and commit 19 turnovers.

Up next for the Saints (4-11, 2-2 UMAC) is Northwestern College tomorrow night at the Reif Gymnasium.  That game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip time and can be viewed on csssaints.com via Game Central.
