St. Scholastica's Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) scored two goals Monday at Saints Field, including a game-winning penalty kick in overtime to give the Saints men's soccer team a victory over the Carleton College Knights, 2-1.

The first half was back and forth, from one end of the field to another, as both teams seemed to control the tempo well. The Knights outshot the Saints in the first half, 9-1, but a few missed opportunities by Carleton and some good defense by CSS sent the teams into halftime tied at zero.

The beginning of the second half appeared to be more of the same, as the ball went back and forth between the teams. The Saints and Knights stayed deadlocked at zero until the 62nd minute when Watt put in a goal on an assist from Kyle Farrar (Sevenoaks, England/Kelsey Park Sports College).

The Knights answered in the 82nd minute when Jordan Cammarota scored off an assist from Ryan Cammarota to tie the game back up at one a piece.

The score would remain tied at one at the end of regulation, and the game went into overtime. In the fourth minute of overtime, a foul was called on Carleton in the box, giving the Saints a penalty kick. The kick was taken by Watt, and he put it in for the goal and the overtime win, 2-1.

Along with Watt's two goals and Farrar's assist, CSS goalkeeper Sam Reed (Eastbourne, England/Causeway School) recorded seven saves on his way to win number two of the season.

The Saints (2-0) will travel to Moorhead to compete in the Cobber Classic this weekend, facing off with Concordia-Moorhead on Friday at 5 p.m. and Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
