The St. Scholastica men's and women's soccer teams will be back in Duluth this weekend when they face conference foes Martin Luther College on Friday and Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday at Saints Field.

The Saints fell to ninth in the North Region, according to the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) rankings that were released on Tuesday, despite winning four of their first five games … Freshman Kyle Farrar (Sevenoaks, England/Kelsey Park Sports College) has recorded at least one point in four of his first five collegiate games … Junior Erik Trochimchuk (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold HS) has scored a goal in each of the last two games … CSS has been outshot 68-63 overall this season, but have put more on goal than its opponents (40-32) … Sam Reed (Eastbourne, England/Causeway School) needs just one more shutout to tie the program record for career shutouts and three more wins to match the career-mark for victories.

Martin Luther Knights (0-4-0, 0-0-0 UMAC)
The Knights have lost four straight to begin season by a combined score of 11-5 … Three of the four losses have by just one goal … 2010 all-conference selection, Kaleb Buch, has a team-high three goals for Martin Luther this season … MLC has been out shot 118-52 this season … The Knights goalkeeper Benjamin Zietlow has already let in 11 goals this year in only four games played, Zietlow last year only let in 25 goals in 16 games played … MLC was picked to finish sixth in the UMAC preseason coaches' poll …

Bethany Lutheran Vikings (2-2-0, 0-0-0 UMAC)
The Vikings showed great improvement in 2010 and had their best UMAC finish in program history, finishing second … BLC was picked to place third in the UMAC preseason poll and received one first-place vote … At the start of this season they are 2-2 and are just coming off a 3-1 victory over North Central University on Tuesday … Joe Nuah and Jorge Perez each have the three goals to lead the Vikings … CK Pock leads the team with a pair of assists … BLC goalkeepers Ryan Bolte and Noah Heidorn have split time in goal the first four games and have both put up similar numbers early on … Bethany Lutheran looks to stay undefeated on the road as they have already won two away from Mankato.
