Women’s Tennis Trounces Rams

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team lost just seven games all night in its 9-0 defeat over North Central University on Friday night at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.

The Saints improve to 15-4 (5-0 UMAC) and have now won 86 straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matches. The Rams fall to 0-7 (0-5 UMAC). This was the first home match for the Saints since February 20th.

In doubles, #Callee Conda# and #Danni Sonnenfeld# won at the No. 1 position 8-3. Conda and Sonnenfeld have won six straight matches. The No. 2 of #Ali Bernst# and #Allie Carlson#, along with the No. 3 team of #Hillary Bungarden# and #Jill Kammerer# each shut out their opponents 8-0.

In singles, #Amanda Hiatt# at No. 3, #Liz Coyne# at No. 5 and #Aleksandra Ochrymowicz# at No. 6 all shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0. For Hiatt it was her ninth straight victory.

Callee Conda (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (UW-Green Bay)) won at No. 1 by scores of 6-0, 6-2. Conda improves to 11-5 at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 Danni Sonnenfeld (Harris, Minn./North Branch HS) won 6-0, 6-1. Finally at No. 4, #Megan Lawrence# won 6-1, 6-0.

The Saints will play both Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday. The Martin Luther match will begin at approximately 3 p.m. following the men's match in the Burns Wellness Commons Fieldhouse. They will then play Bethany Lutheran at the Arrowhead Tennis Center at approximately 7 p.m., following the men's match.
