Women's Tennis Opens Weekend with Non-Conference Win

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team began a packed sports weekend for the Saints, edging out non-conference foe the University of Wis.-Eau Claire on Friday afternoon by a 5-4 final.

Senior #Callee Conda# got the Saints out on the right foot defeating the Blugolds' Katie Gillman in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 10-4).

The Saints won third, fourth, and fifth singles all in two sets, with #Danni Sonnenfeld# winning 6-4, 6-4; #Amanda Hiatt# winning 6-2, 6-3; and #Hillary Bungarden# winning 6-3, 6-3.

The Blugolds took the first doubles match, but CSS clinched victory in second doubles as Hiatt and Sonnenfeld teamed up to earn the Saints' fifth victory on the afternoon by a 9-7 score.

The Saints will hop back into conference play on Saturday, going into a showdown with Martin Luther College at 1 p.m. CSS enters the game riding an 83-match winning streak against Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opponents.
