Track & Field Completes Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Members of the St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field teams finished up one of the best weekend's in program history with three NCAA provisional qualifiers and seven program records at the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina University.

On Saturday, the Saints broke two more records as #Becky Huberty# broke the shot put record with a toss of 40'-3.5” (12.28m) to finish 10th in that event. #Alec Seeley# also broke the previous school record in that event at 40'-3.25” (12.27m).

The other record broken on Saturday was by #Katie Walrath# in the discus throw. Walrath threw it a distance of 125'-3” (38.17m) on her first throw to finish 12th.

All of this comes a day after the Saints had an unprecedented three athletes meet a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark and broke five program records.

#Tracy Perish# placed seventh in the heptathlon and broke three school records on Friday to finish with a program-record 4,133 points, which was good enough to meet a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark. She broke the long jump record with a distance of 16'-11.5” (5.17m) and the javelin throw record on her first collegiate throw at 119'-5” (36.39m) to place first in that event. She also finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.03 seconds.

Alec Seeley (Cadott, Wis./Cadott HS) also competed in the Amber Campbell Hammer Throw Invitational on Friday. Seeley finished third in the invitational, but was the second collegiate with a school-record toss of 162'-10” (49.64m), which also met a NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

The other provisional qualifying mark was set by #Tom Lyscio# on the men's side. Lyscio finished seventh, but was the top Division III thrower, with a school-record distance of 177'-2” (54.00m).

The Saints will be off until April 2nd when they compete in their first outdoor meet in the Midwest at the Hamline Invite.
