Women’s Tennis Finishes Successful Spring Break with Win

ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team finished 5-1 in Florida after defeating Saint Mary's College (Ind.) 6-3 on Friday.

The Saints got momentum going early by winning two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of #Callee Conda# and #Milly Che Leon# won 8-4. The No. 2 team of #Danni Sonnenfeld# and #Amanda Hiatt# were also victorious by a score of 8-3 for the duo's fourth straight win.

After doubles, the Saints only needed three singles wins and they did one better by taking four matches. Milly Che Leon (Lima, Peru/Enrique Meiggs ) won at the No. 2 spot 6-1, 6-3. Danni Sonnenfeld (Harris, Minn./North Branch HS) won by that exact same score at No. 3.

At No. 4 Amanda Hiatt (St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) won 6-2, 6-0 for her fifth straight win. Finally at No. 5, #Hillary Bungarden# won her 13th straight match, dropping just one game 6-0, 6-1.

The Saints return to the region and will open Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play next weekend with a pair of dual matches against Bethany Lutheran College and North Central University next Saturday. The Bethany match is scheduled to get underway at noon.
