Women’s Tennis Wins Third Straight by Topping Carthage

ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team just got past Carthage College (Wis.) on Tuesday, winning 5-4 to run its winning streak to three.

The Saints (7-3) came out of the doubles matches with a 2-1 lead. The No. 2 team of #Danni Sonnenfeld# and #Amanda Hiatt# won 8-6, while the No. 3 team of #Hillary Bungarden# and #Allie Carlson# prevailed 8-4.

In singles play, the Saints did their damage in the middle of the lineup, dropping just two games in the three matches combined. Sonnenfeld won at No. 3, Hiatt won at No. 4, and Bungarden blanked her opponent at the No. 5 spot. The Lady Reds (7-5) kept the score close by pulling out a pair of super-breakers at the No.1 and 6 spots.

The Saints will be on the court tomorrow for a pair of matches. The first match will be against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at 11:30 a.m. local time and later in the day, the Saints will face Schreiner University (Tex.) at 5:30 p.m. local time.
