Women's Basketball Cruises Past Crown

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team never trailed in defeating Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) rival Crown College on Saturday afternoon by an 86-44 final.

CSS improves to 8-13 overall while evening its UMAC record at 5-5. Crown remains winless on the year at 0-20 (0-10).

Sixteen Saints saw playing time in the victory as CSS cruised to a 33-point halftime lead and held on for the 42-point final margin of victory. St. Scholastica led by as many as 44 in the contest.

#Kayla Heisler# led the way for SCS with 14 points. Also reaching double digits scoring off the bench were #Savanna Treichel# and #Shannon Lehikoinen#, who had 12 and 10 points on the afternoon, respectively.

#Lindsey Kingsbury# and #Laura Amys# led the Saints in rebounds with nine each off the bench. Kingsbury and #Kelly Cinquegrani# also led the Saints with two blocks on the night. #Sammy Doucette# had six assists to lead CSS in that category.

Crown's Judy Mundt finished with a game-high 20 points. The Storm's Laura Wilson had eight rebounds on the night. Misa Mateich added three blocks.

The Saints' bench outscored the Storm bench 59-0 in the victory. CSS shot 50% from the field while Crown shot just 16.7%.

The Saints will go to Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran College next weekend. Friday's game against Martin Luther is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
