MOORHEAD, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team won its third straight match to open the season on Sunday with a 5-4 victory at Concordia-Moorhead.

Just like their male counterparts, the Saints (3-0) took two of the three doubles matches on the day. The No. 2 team of #Kelli Johnson# and #Hillary Bungarden# won by a score of 8-6. The No. 3 team of #Danni Sonnenfeld# and #Ali Bernst# were also victorious, 8-5.

After the Cobbers (0-1) took the top three flights of singles matches, CSS's depth proved to be too much. Danni Sonnenfeld (Harris, Minn./North Branch HS) won at the No. 4 spot 6-2, 6-3. At No. 5, Hillary Bungarden (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won 6-1, 6-4. The deciding match was the closest of the night as #Amanda Hiatt# came out on top 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 to give the Saints the victory.

The Saints will be at home again next weekend for a pair of matches at the Arrowhead Tennis Center. The Saints will begin with Hamline University on Saturday at 4 p.m. and then face the College of Saint Benedict on Sunday at noon.
