The Saints earned their first win of the season last Saturday with a 78-66 victory over Finlandia University (Mich.) at Reif Gymnasium. Chris Hamers (Onamia, Minn./Onamia HS) and Brett Tester (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) each chipped in 18 points to pace CSS.

St. Scholastica Saints (1-6)
The Saints look to snap a six-game losing streak to the Yellowjackets on Saturday … CSS had its best shooting game of the season on Saturday vs. Finlandia with a .537 field goal percentage … It was the first time this season the Saints shot over 50-percent … The Saints have also done well on the offensive glass in each of the last two games with 27 offensive rebounds combined … CSS will need to shoot better at the free throw line if they want to make a run once conference play starts … So far this season, the Saints have shot above 70-percent from the charity stripe just once and quite possibly two of their losses could be blamed for struggles at the line … Brett Tester (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) has scored in double-figures in six of the first seven games this season … In five of those game he has scored 18 points or more … He is now 15th on the program's all-time scoring list with 832 career points … Chris Hamers (Onamia, Minn./Onamia HS) is the only other Saint averaging in double-figures at 12.1 points per game … Hamers is currently ranked 41st in the nation, averaging three, 3-point field goals per game … MarShaan Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis North HS (Minneapolis Comm. & Tech. College)) is 34th in the country with an average of 2.1 blocks per game.

UW-Superior Yellowjackets (7-4)
Under second year head coach Matt Siverling, the Yellowjackets are off to a 7-4 start, with the four losses coming against Division II Minnesota-Duluth, unbeaten Edgewood College (Wis.), regional power UW-Stevens Point and UW-La Crosse … The combined record of the losses vs. Division III schools is 23-4 … The 'Jackets are coming off a 64-53 win over UW-Eau Claire (CSS lost to in season opener) on Wednesday night … UWS has already beaten two UMAC schools in Northwestern College and Northland College and have defeated Finlandia twice this season … Ben Aalfs leads the 'Jackets in scoring at 13.6 points per game … Brendan Bauer and Bronson Byrne are each averaging 10.2 points per game.

Women's Basketball

The Saints defeated Finlandia University on Saturday at Reif Gymnasium by a score of 79-71. CSS held off a late rally by the Lions with saw Finlandia finish the game on a 36-9 run. Mariah Hovick (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) and Kayla Heisler (Remer, Minn./Northland HS) each scored 18 points to lead the Saints. Hovick also had 10 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double.

The Saints enter Saturday's games winners of their last two contests … Hovick performances last week earned her UMAC Player of the Week accolades … She has recorded at least one steal in every game this season, including four or more steals in four games … Hovick is ranked 30th in the country, averaging 3.6 steals per game … She had eight steals in the team's win over North Central last Tuesday, which is tied for the second-most in a game in program history … As a team, CSS had 23 steals against the Rams … The Saints had a team-high 30 offensive rebounds in the victory over Finlandia … The Saints have shot better at the free throw line than its opponents in seven of the eight games this season and are ranked 41st in the nation … Kayla Heisler (Remer, Minn./Northland HS) is averaging 13 points per game since returning to the lineup three games ago … Laura Amys (South Range, Wis./Superior HS) leads the team, averaging 7.1 rebounds per game … She is currently tied for second in program history with 106 career blocks, 23 back of the program record.

The Yellowjackets will enter Saturday's game on a two-game losing skid … In its last action, UWS fell to UW-Eau Claire 76-38 … However, the 'Jackets have defeated UW-Stout (a team the Saints lost to this season) and have beaten UMAC schools Northwestern College and Northland College … UWS has not lost to a Division III program that has more than two losses this season … Connie Urmanski leads the 'Jackets with 13 points per game … Urmanski has made 19 of the team's 37, 3-pointers this season … Sally Linzmeier and Hailey Hart are each averaging 12.6 and 10.1 points, respectively.
