Women's Basketball Takes Down Rival Presentation Saints

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team secured the lead with ten minutes remaining and didn't look back, earning a comeback win over Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) rival Presentation College on Friday evening by a final score of 69-66.

The CSS Saints improve to 6-11 with the victory, evening their UMAC record at 3-3. Presentation falls to 7-10 on the year, including a 2-4 conference mark.

#Kelly Cinquegrani# had 12 of the Saints' 35 points at the break. The Saints fell behind early, trailing by as many as ten during the first period of play. Five late points by #Savannah Treichel# cut the Presentation lead to four at the break.

CSS shot 48.3% in the first half, making good on 14 of 29 field goals, but trailed their rival Saints coming out of the locker room for the second half.

While Cinquegrani cooled in the second, adding just two points, #Kayla Heisler scored nine to finish with a game-high 16 on the night.

The St. Scholastica Saints once again fell further behind early in the period, but scored nine unanswered points just before the three-minute mark of the period to pull ahead. CSS then took the lead for good with just over nine minutes to go.

St. Scholastica led by as many as seven but held on during a late PC surge to finish with the three-point victory.

#Laura Amys# finished with one point shy of a double-double after hauling down ten rebounds for CSS. She also had a team-high of three blocks on the evening. #Erin Morstad# led the way with five assists on the night.

For Presentation, four players cracked double digits scoring, led by Nicky Rausch's 16. Rausch also led the team with four assists on the night. Kristin O'Toole had a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

The CSS Saints maintained their shooting average into the second period and were able to pull away, shooting 48.3% for the game while holding the PC Saints to 37.1%.

St. Scholastica will face preseason UMAC favorite and current leader University of Minnesota-Morris tomorrow afternoon. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and can be seen live, courtesy of the Cougar Sports Network.
