ST.PAUL – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team lost to Northwestern College by a score of 69-54 at the Ericksen Center on Saturday afternoon.
Northwestern started the game on a 9-0 run, a lead that they wouldn't let go of in the first 20 minutes. CSS shot 46-percent from the field in the first half, while Northwestern shot 38-percent. The Eagles had no problem from the charity line, going 7-for-7.
Nearly nine minutes into the second half, the Saints would tie the score at 38, the first time since the opening tip-off that CSS was tied with Northwestern. The Saints would tie Northwestern at 42-42 for the last time with 10:10 left in the game. Northwestern would finish the game on a 27-12 run to close out a 69-54 victory over the Saints, a game in which the Eagles never trailed.
The Saints and Northwestern would both end the game shooting 41-percent from the field. The Eagles would only miss two free throws the whole game, going 23-for-25.
#Taylor Fellbaum# would have a career high of 17 points for the Saints. Northwestern Katie DeWitt would lead the Eagles with 24 points. Northwestern took advantage of the Saints miscues, by scoring 27 points of turnovers.
The Saints will be at Presentation College and the University of Minnesota-Morris next Friday and Saturday to continue conference play. Friday's game against Presentation is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
