Saints Take Down Crown for Third Straight Win

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team continued their winning streak, pushing it to three straight wins, with an 83-67 win over conference rival Crown College at the Wilde Athletic Center.

CSS's #Danny Schmitz# got the Saints going early with a quick 3-pointer to get the Saints on the board first. The Saints never let go of the lead the rest of the game. Danny Schmitz (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) led CSS in scoring the first 20 minutes with a total of 13 points.

St Scholastica took a 38-25 lead into the locker rooms. Crown College shot 23-percent from the field, while the Saints shot 65-percent from the field.

CSS started the second half with a 10-3 run. At multiple points in the game the Saints had a lead of 17 points. St Scholastica finished the game on a 13-6 run and won by a final score of 83-67.

The Saints' Danny Schmitz (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) led both teams in scoring with a total of 28 points. #Brett Tester# added 17 points, while grabbing a team-high six rebounds. #Jonah Dahlman# chipped in 13 points and also dished seven assists. Crown College's Richard McDaniel led Crown in scoring with 17 points.

The Saints dominated the paint the whole game scoring 40 points, which was nearly half of their total points. Crown College bench played a critical role in keeping Crown in this game, with 28 points.

Crown College could not cool down the Saints hot shooting, which CSS shot a season-high 67-percent from the field, while Crown shot 30 percent from the field.

The Saints look to push their win streak to four games tomorrow when they take on Northwestern College. The tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
