DULUTH, Minn. – Bethany Lutheran closed the game on a 17-0 run to hand the St. Scholastica men's basketball team a 67-55 defeat on Friday night at Reif Gymnasium.
The Vikings jumped out to a six-point advantage early in tonight's contest. CSS then trailed by seven with seven minutes to go in the half, but went on an 11-3 run to take a 25-24 lead with 3:44 on the clock. The Vikings regained the lead and took a 28-26 lead into the locker room.
The Saints shot 32-percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, while the Vikings shot 41-percent. The Vikings outrebounded the Saints in the first half 25-16.
St. Scholastica would go on an 8-0 run near the start of the second half to take a 38-31 lead. A pair of #Brett Tester# free throws extended the lead to 12 with 10:30 to play.
However, shortly later Bethany would go on a 9-0 run to cut the margin to one with seven minutes to go. #Jonah Dahlman# responded by scoring four straight points to make it 55-50 with 4:42 left. Unfortunately, the Saints went scoreless the rest of the way as BLC scored the final 17 points of the game to win going away 67-55.
The Vikings shot 52-percent in the second half to finish at 46-percent for the game. CSS finished at 32-percent for the game. Bethany Lutheran out-rebounded the Saints 45-31 for the game.
Brett Tester (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) had a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the Saints. #Danny Schmitz# added 15 points, while
Jonah Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) had 11. Alex Weldon had 22 points off the bench to lead the Vikings.
