DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team settled for a double-overtime scoreless tie against Upper Midwest Athletic Conference rival University of Minn.-Morris on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field.
The Saints move to 6-2-1 on the season (3-0-1 UMAC) after the tie, while the Cougars are now 2-3-3 (1-1-1 UMAC).
Goalkeeper #Sam Reed# earned his fourth shutout of the season, making two stops for CSS in 110 minutes of action. Morris goalkeeper Tyler Simpson made four saves and several game-saving grabs, particularly on each of the Saints' 11 corner kick attempts.
In a game in which seven yellow cards and one red card were assessed, the Saints were forced to play a man down for the final 25 minutes including overtime. Still, CSS pressured in the closing moments, including a shot by #Toby Peter# which hooked into the post in the final seconds of regulation.
Peter led the team with three shots, including one on net. The Cougars had two players with one shot each.
The Saints will play host to Presentation College tomorrow at Saints Field. Action begins at approximately 2 p.m., following the women's contest. Everything can be seen live, courtesy of the iFan Sports Network, at csssaints.com.
