ASHLAND, Wis. – After falling behind 1-0, the St. Scholastica men's soccer team scored three goals in the span of 1:13 seconds on its way to a 4-1 victory over Northland College in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opener on Tuesday.

Just like the Northland women, the LumberJacks (1-4) had just one shot on goal the whole match and capitalized as Callan Godshalk scored and unassisted goal in the 32nd minute.

The Saints (3-2) squared the contest at 1-1 about 10 minutes later as #Cody Sveiven# scored his first goal of the season with an assist from #Rob Johnson#. Just 46 seconds later, #Greg Doornink# took a penalty kick for the Saints and after last year's struggles on PK's, Doornink delivered on the first PK of 2010 to make it 2-1 CSS. Before the 'Jacks could regroup, #Jermaine Dacres# put another one in the net 27 seconds later to make the halftime score 3-1. Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) also had the assist on that goal.

#Erik Trochimchuk# gave the Saints insurance in the 88th minute with his first goal of the season to make the final tally 4-1. #Ben Wallace# had the assist.

#Sam Reed# earned the win in net for the Saints, playing 70 minutes. Freshman #Bryan Nyberg# played the final 20 minutes for the Saints. Sam Reed (Eastbourne, England/Causeway School) played in every minute of action last season. Matt Larsen had 15 saves in the loss for the LumberJacks.

The Saints out-shot the 'Jacks 24-1, including 16 shots in the first half.

The Saints will be at Martin Luther College on Friday. Action begins at approximately 4 p.m., following the women's game.
