NORTHFIELD, Minn. –The St. Scholastica men's soccer team continued to show just enough offense to earn the victory on Saturday afternoon as it defeated Carleton College by a 1-0 score in the team's road opener.
CSS has won two in a row to move to 2-2 on the season, while the Knights fall to 1-2 after the loss.
The Saints had just three shots on net against Knights goalkeeper Pete Semmer, but #Rob Johnson# scored the lone goal of the game in the 26th minute. #Toby Peter# had the assist.
Johnson and #Greg Doornink# each had two shots to lead the Saints.
Saints goalkeeper #Sam Reed# had just to make just two saves in the game, but he did, and his defense added a team save to keep the Knights scoreless on the afternoon.
The Saints open the conference schedule next week, beginning with Northland College in Ashland on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m., followed by Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran Colleges next weekend. CSS was voted to finish first in the UMAC in the 2010 UMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
