WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD PLACES SECOND AT NORTH COUNTRY INVITE

DULUTH, Minn. – In a meet that consisted of mostly Division II schools, the St. Scholastica women's track & field team finished second out of eight teams at the North Country Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

#Nikki Hughes# (So.-South Range, Wis./Northwestern) broke the lone school record on the day as she won 800-meter dash in a record time of 2:18.68 seconds. Hughes was also part of the 4x400-meter relay team that consisted of #Hallie Miller# (Fr.-Cologne, Minn./Waconia), #Caitlin Vaughan# (Fr.-Superior, Wis.), and #Jennifer Plaetz# (So.-Lucan, Minn./Wabasso) that won with its third-fastest time in program history at 4:03.71 seconds.

Plaetz won the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:07.02 seconds. #Katelin Domitrovich# (Sr.-Ontonagon, Mich.) won the high jump, clearing a height of 5'-1” (1.55m). #Katie Kimm# (Jr.-Mora, Minn.) was second in that event, clearing that same height, which was a career-best.

#Mariah Berg# (Fr.-Bagley, Minn.) was second in the long jump with a leap of 15'-0.75” (4.59m). #Rachel Miller# (Fr.-Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson) was second in the triple jump with a distance of 33'-10.75” (10.33m). Miller also had a personal-best throw in the javelin throw, placing third with a distance of 97'-2” (29.63m). #Alec Seeley# (So.-Cadott, Wis.) was second in the hammer throw with a distance of 145'-9”(44.44m).

The 4x100-meter relay team of Mariah Berg (Bagley, Minn./Bagley HS), #Katie Walrath# (So.-Thief River Falls, Minn.), #Rachel Thelen# (Fr.-Park Rapids, Minn.), and #Katlin Krause# (Fr.-Motley, Minn./Pillager) placed third with a time of 52.03 seconds. #Tara Connolly# (Sr.-River Falls, Wis.) was third in the 1,500-meter run, posting a time of 5:02.25 seconds. #Alex Aarestad# (Sr.-Halstad, Minn./Oak Grove) was also third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.31 seconds.

Some of the Saints women will be at the Hamline Twilight on Wednesday night. CSS will have the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and the sprint medley relay teams competing at the prestigious Drake Relays on Friday and Saturday.
