WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD BREAKS FIVE RECORDS AT FALCON INVITE

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team broke five school records at the Falcon Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

On Friday night, #Alec Seeley# (So.-Cadott, Wis.) won and broke her own school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 152'-8” (46.54m). That mark was just four-tenths off the NCAA Division III provisional mark. Also on Friday, #Katie Walrath# (So.-Thief River Falls, Minn.) finished fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 98'-8” (30.07m).

On Saturday, Seeley broke another school record as she now owns the shot put record with a distance of 38'-7.75” (11.78m) to finish fourth. Walrath also broke a school record on Saturday in the discus throw, tossing it a distance of 115'-5” (35.18m).

#Rachel Miller# (Fr.-Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson) broke the school record in the triple jump with a distance of 33'-11.5” (10.35m) to finish second in that event. The final program record broken on the day was by 4x400-meter relay team of #Stacey Peterson# (Sr.-Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert), #Hallie Miller# (Fr.-Cologne, Minn./Waconia), #Nikki Hughes# (So.-South Range, Wis./Northwestern), and #Jennifer Plaetz# (So.-Lucan, Minn./Wabasso) with a first-place time of 4:00.25 seconds.

Hughes also cruised to victory in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.62 seconds. Peterson, who led off the 4x4 team, also led off the 4x100-meter relay team and she was followed by Walrath, #Rachel Thelen# (Fr.-Park Rapids, Minn.), and #Katlin Krause# (Fr.-Motley, Minn./Pillager) with a third-place time of 51.54 seconds. Peterson also finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.26 seconds.

Plaetz placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.07 seconds. #Tara Connolly# (Sr.-River Falls, Wis.) was fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:04.54 seconds. #Stacey Gustafson# (Fr.-Merrifield, Minn./Crosby-Ironton) was right behind her in fifth with a personal-best time of 5:06.44 seconds. #Katelin Domitrovich# (Sr.-Ontonagon, Mich.) and #Katie Kimm# (Jr.-Mora, Minn.) tied for second in the high jump, each clearing 4'-11” (1.50m).

The Saints will be in Duluth on Wednesday when it takes part in the Twin Ports Twilight at UMD's Malosky Stadium. The meet begins at 3:30 p.m.
