Tester leads Saints for second straight game

MORRIS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team was defeated this evening at the University of Minnesota-Morris 71-57 at the Morris P.E. Center.

The Saints fall to 7-13 overall and 4-5 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Cougars improve to 9-10 overall and 6-3 in the league.

Both teams went back-and-forth for the opening five minutes. CSS went on a 6-0 run to take an early 8-5 lead. The Saints led by five with seven minutes left in the half, but the Cougars responded with a 12-3 run to take a 27-23 lead. Morris went into the locker room with a 32-27 edge.

The Saints shot 37-percent in the half, while the Cougars shot 43-percent. CSS was 1-for-10 on 3-point attempts.

The Cougars held the lead the rest of game, but the Saints kept it close for the first 10 minutes, trailing by no more than nine points. The Cougar lead was down to five with 10 minutes to go, but four, 3-pointers by Morris' Eric Dalbey, including three straight, and another 3-point play extended the lead to 18. CSS did not recover and fell 71-57.

The Saints shot 52-percent in the second half to finish at 44-percent for the game. The Cougars finished at 45-percent for the game. Morris connected on eight, 3-pointers, while the Saints made just one. The Cougar bench outscored the Saints' bench 28-7.

#Brett Tester# (Fr.-Andover, Minn.) led the Saints for the second consecutive game with 18 points, while #Jonah Dahlman# (Fr.-Braham, Minn.) added 10 points. #Logan Schultz# (Jr.-Perham, Minn.) snatched a team-high six rebounds. Morris' Eric Dalbey finished with a game-high 25 points, making seven, 3-pointers.

The Saints will head over to Aberdeen, S.D. for a matchup against Presentation College tomorrow. The action is set to begin at approximately 5 p.m., following the women's game.
