DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team was held to 18-percent shooting in the second half as Northland College remained unbeaten in conference play with a 63-47 victory today at Reif Gym.

The Saints fall to 8-11 overall and 3-5 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The LumberJills improve to 13-5 overall and are 8-0 in the UMAC.

The 'Jills scored the first five points of the game, but the Saints came back with a quick five points to tie it up. Northland led by six with over eight minutes to go in the half, but CSS went on an 11-2 run and took its first lead on a #Bri Allen# (Fr.-West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) 3-pointer with five minutes left in the half. A 3-pointer and three-point play by the LumberJills put Northland back up. The 'Jills went into halftime with a 29-28 lead.

The Saints shot 46-percent in the first half and held Northland to just 34-percent shooting. CSS also had a 19-16 advantage on the glass and outscored the LumberJills 10-5 in second-chance points.

The Saints scored the first three points of the second half to take a 32-29 lead. Northland responded and the lead exchanged hands a couple of times. A pair of #Kirsten Haukom# (Sr.-Marshall, Minn.) free throws with 9:10 to go cut the Northland lead to three.

However, the 'Jills would go on an 8-0 run over the next four minutes to extend their lead to 51-40. CSS got within six, but the LumberJills hit enough free throws to prevail 63-47.

The Saints shot just 18-percent in the second half to finish at 31-percent for the game. Northland shot 50-percent in the second half to finish at 40-percent. CSS was 0-for-11 on 3-point attempts in the second half. The 'Jills shot 17 more free throws than CSS and made 11 more.

Kristen Haukom led the Saints with 10 points. Haukom needs just 10 more points to become the 11th player in program history to register 1,000 career points. #Kelly Cinquegrani# (Jr.-Buffalo, Minn.) and #Katie Christensen# (Sr.-Elk River, Minn.) each added eight points. Lindsey Hamm led all scorers with 12 points for Northland.

The Saints will face another tough conference opponent on Friday when it travels to the University of Minnesota-Morris. The action is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
