RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team could not hand 18th-ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls its first loss of the season as the Falcons took care of the Saints 70-31 today.
The Saints fall to 5-7 overall, while the Falcons are now 12-0. CSS falls to 8-14 all-time against the Falcons.
The first 10 minutes of the first half the Saints hung with the Falcons. CSS went up 13-11 after a #Taylor Tyllia# (
Fr.-Duluth, Minn./East) 3-point play with 10 minutes to go. However, from that point the Saints would not make a field goal the rest of the half as the Falcons out-scored St. Scholastica 20-2 to go into halftime with a 31-15 lead.
CSS made just five field goals in the half and shot 24-percent. River Falls shot 38-percent and had a 23-13 edge on the glass. The Falcons out-scored the Saints 20-0 in the paint.
River Falls opened the second half on a 12-0 run. CSS's first field goal in the second half took place at the 14:33-mark. That meant the Saints went 15:28 seconds without a field goal. The Falcons led by as much as 44 points before prevailing by a final score of 70-31. The 31 points was a season-low for St. Scholastica.
The Saints shot 25-percent for the game and committed a season-high 32 turnovers. The Falcons shot 40-percent for the game and made 21 free throws in the contest. River Falls out-rebounded the Saints 49-31.

Sr.-Marshall, Minn.) had 11 points to lead CSS. Haukom and
Taylor Tyllia (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) tied for a team-high six rebounds. Alise Holst and Taylor House each had 14 points to lead River Falls.
The Saints will begin a three-game home stand on Friday when it hosts Presentation College in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup. The tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and can be seen live, courtesy of the iFan Sports Network, at csssaints.com.
