DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team had its home opener today at Saints Field and played to a 1-1 tie with the University of St. Thomas.
The Saints, who are ranked 10th in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Adidas North Region poll, still have not lost this season and are now 5-0-1. The Tommies' record now stands at 4-3-1. This is the latest home opener in program history.

Fr.-White City, Sask./Luther College HS) out-ran the defenders to the ball and snuck the ball past the goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season. #Toby Peter# (

So.-Nottingham, England/Haywood Comprehensive) had the assists. The Saints out-shot the Tommies 13-3 and had one shot hit the post in the first half, but could only manage that one goal.
Just over two minutes into the second half, the Tommies would tie it up as Josh Pozner's shot would be deflected into the net to make it 1-1. The Tommies would be on the attack more in the second half, but the match went to overtime.
Both teams would get a shot off in both overtimes, but could not manage a shot on net as the match ended in a 1-1 tie.

So.-Eastbourne, England/Causeway) made two saves for the Saints, while Alex Benson had three saves off the bench to earn the tie for the Tommies. The Saints had a 20-6 shot advantage in the contest. This was the second overtime match of the season for CSS and the fourth for St. Thomas.
