MEN’S SOCCER KEEPS ON ROLLING WITH WIN AT CROWN

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team improved to 5-0 this season with a 3-0 victory today at Crown College on Crown Field.

The Saints also improve to 3-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Storm drop to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the league. CSS improves to 19-1-1 all-time against Crown College and have won the last seven matches.

The Saints got things going in the 16th minute when #Courtney Bonnick# (So.-Nottingham, England/Haywood Comprehensive) scored his fourth goal of the season. #Brandon Stemwedel# (So.-Grand Rapids, Minn.) had the assist. Not to be outdone, #Joey Maida# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East) netted his fourth goal of the year in the 35th minute to give CSS a 2-0 halftime lead. #Dustin James# (Jr.-Superior, Wis.) had the assist. Maida has scored at least one goal in three straight matches.

The Saints put the match away in the 74th minute when #Toby Peter# (Jr.-Splat, Germany/J.S. Bach) scored his first goal of the 2009 season to make the final 3-0 St. Scholastica.

CSS had a 22-14 shot advantage over the Storm, including 14-4 in the first half. #Sam Reed# (So.-Eastbourne, England/Causeway) stayed perfect and recorded his second shutout of the season, stopping six shots. John Loeffler had the loss for Crown.

The Saints will have their home opener on Wednesday up at Saints Field when they host the University of St. Thomas in a non-conference tilt. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and can be seen live courtesy of the iFan Sports Network at csssaints.com
