ST. PAUL – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team did what it couldn't do last year during the regular season and that was defeat Northwestern College as it took care of the Eagles today by a score of 5-1.
The Saints improve to 4-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The 4-0-0 start is the best since the 1985 season when it began the season 10-0-0. The Eagles fall to 0-6-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the conference. CSS lost to and tied Northwestern during the regular season in 2008, but managed to defeat the Eagles in the UMAC Tournament semifinals.

The Saints would give up an own goal a minute into the second half as the score was now 2-1. However, #Rob Miller# (
Sr.-Duluth, Minn./East) netted his first goal of the season in the 63rd minute to make it 3-1. Trochimchuk put the match out of reach with his second goal on the year in the 80th minute. #Ian Krafnick# (
Fr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) scored his first collegiate goal on a penalty kick in the 89th minute as the Saints went on to win 5-1.
