DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris 9-0 this afternoon in the Burns Wellness Commons to end its regular season and capture its 13th consecutive conference regular season championship.
The Saints finish the regular season at 17-8 and 10-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Saints have won 71 straight UMAC dual matches. The Cougars fall to 0-11 overall and 0-9 in league play.
Only four matches were actually played today as the Cougars defaulted and No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and also at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles.

Jr.-Long Prairie, Minn.) and #Megan Carlson# (
Jr.-Pine City, Minn.) blank their opponents 8-0. In singles, #Angela Shields# (
Jr.-Pengilly, Minn./Greenway) won at the No. 1 spot 6-0, 6-1. The scores were reversed at No. 2 as #Lynnae Wilke# (
Sr.-Parkers Prairie, Minn.) won 6-1, 6-0. Shields and Wilke have both won nine straight matches. Finally at No. 3, #Katie Marcella# (
So.-Virginia, Minn.) won 6-0, 6-0 for her fifth straight win.
The Saints will compete at the UMAC Postseason Tournament next weekend at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. Action begins Friday at 11 a.m., while Saturday's play will start at 8 a.m.
