DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team broke eight school records this afternoon at the Twin Ports Triangular held at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
#Samora Johnson# (
Fr.-Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) was a part of the two records on the day as he broke the 400-meter record with a time of 50.57 seconds to win the event. He, along with #Tyler Hassel# (
Jr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Grand Rapids), #Todd Belger# (
Fr.-Bloomer, Wis.), and #Garrett Cora# (
Fr.-Duluth, Minn./East) broke the 4x200-meter record with a time of 1:32.33 seconds to finish second in the event. Cora also broke the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.85 seconds, just missing a NCAA Division III Provisional time by .07 seconds.

Fr.-Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) broke the program record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.73 seconds. He also finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.57 seconds. #Pat Bigaouette# (
Fr.-Chaska, Minn.) broke the school record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:44.40 seconds. The sprint medley team of

Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Central) won with a time of 3:36.12 seconds.
In field events, #Cyrus Beckwith# (
So.-Saginaw, Minn./Proctor) broke the school record in the pole vault for the third consecutive week, clearing a height of 12'-6"(3.81m). #Wendell Booth# (
Fr.-Deer River, Minn./Grand Rapids) also broke the school record in the long jump with a distance of 21'-7.4"(6.59m). #Tony Evans# (
So.-New Richmond, Wis.) was second in that event with a distance of 20'-6.5"(6.26m). Evans was also second in the javelin, throwing a distance of 157'-8.9"(48.08m).
#Tom Lyscio# (
Fr.-Baxter, Minn.) broke the final school record of the day in the hammer throw with a distance of 147'-8"(45.01m). Lyscio also finished second in the shot put with a distance of 45'-2.9"(13.79m) and in the discus with a distance of 135'-1.2"(41.18m).
The Saints will once again compete at UMD on Saturday for the Bulldog Invitational. The event is set to begin at 10 a.m.
