WOMEN’S TENNIS WINS THIRD IN A ROW

ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team won its third straight match with a 8-1 win over Bryn Mawr (Pa.) this morning in Orlando, Fla.

The Saints, who have six of their last seven matches, improve to 6-2 this season. This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

St. Scholastica won all three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of #Ploy Suthijindawong# (Fr.-Bangkok, Thailand/Duluth Central) and #Callee Conda# (So.-Hibbing, Minn.) won by a score of 8-0. Winning by that same 8-0 score was the No. 2 team of #Paula Beckermann# (Jr.-Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer) and #Katie Motley# (Jr.-Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert). The No. 3 team of #Kelly Ross# (Jr.-Buffalo, Minn.) and #Natalie Urick# (Jr.-Virginia, Minn.) won their sixth straight match with an 8-4 victory.

In singles action, Ploy Suthijindawong (Bangkok, Thailand/Duluth Central HS) won her fifth straight match at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Katie Motley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-4, 6-2. At No. 3 singles Callee Conda (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (UW-Green Bay)) won 6-1, 6-1 to improve to 7-1 this season. Natalie Urick (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) won at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-1. The final win was by #Danni Sonnenfeld# (So.-Harris, Minn./North Branch, Minn.) at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-2.

The Saints will play their final match in Florida tomorrow when they face Wheaton College at 11 a.m.
