STRONG FIRST HALF PROPELS SAINTS WOMEN TO VICTORY

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team out-scored Crown College 35-14 in the first half on its way to a 76-43 victory Friday night.

The Saints improve to 8-14 overall and 5-6 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action. The Storm fall to 2-16 overall and remain winless in UMAC action with a 0-11 record. CSS Head Coach Stacy Deadrick needs just three more victories for 200 in her career.

The Saints got out front quickly scoring the first 10 points of the game with six points coming from #Kelly Cinquegrani# (So.-Buffalo, Minn.) during that span. Later, CSS closed the final eight minutes of the first half on a 15-2 run to go into halftime with a 35-14 advantage.

St. Scholastica shot 40-percent in the first half, while the Storm shot 26-percent. The Saints had a 15-1 advantage on second-chance points in the half.

The Saints used a pair of 7-0 runs in the second half as they won going away by a score of 76-43. CSS shot 49-percent to finish at 44-percent for the game. Crown shot 36-percent for the game. The Saints had a 53-28 advantage on the glass and their bench out-scored Crown's bench 37-9 for the game.

Kelly Cinquegrani (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) matched a career-high with 18 points to pace St. Scholastica. #Laura Wappes# (Fr.-Cloquet, Minn.) added a career-high 11 points off the bench. #Erin Morstad# (Fr.-Fergus Falls, Minn.) had a career-high eight rebounds for CSS. Mary Devries had 15 points to lead the Storm.

The Saints will face Northwestern College tomorrow afternoon in St. Paul. The tip-off for that game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
