NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team could not overcome a 26-0 first half run as it was defeated by Carleton College this afternoon 92-62 at the West Gym in Northfield, Minn.
The Saints fall to 1-7 overall and have lost six straight games. CSS had six straight losses last season, but turned things around winning 13 of its final 14 games. The Knights improve to 4-4 overall. The only time the saints played Carleton was two years ago at home, also a Knight victory.
The Saints got off to a good start and had a 14-9 lead with 15 minutes to go following a #Jonah Dahlman# (
Fr.-Braham, Minn.) lay-up. The Knights then essentially put the game away as they scored the next 26 points over a span of six minutes to take a 35-14 lead. Carleton went into the half with a 46-22 advantage.
CSS shot 34-percent in the half, while the Knights were 64-percent from the field, including 7-of-10 from beyond the arc. The Carleton bench out-scored the CSS bench 22-2 in the first half.
The second half was not any better from the Saints' perspective as the margin got as high as 37. The Knights would win by a score of 92-62.
CSS finished 40-percent from the field for the game, while the Knights shot 61-percent. Carleton was 11-for-16 on 3-point attempts for the game and out-scored the Saints 42-28 in the paint. The Saints finished with four assists in the game, while Carleton had eight blocked shots.

Fr.-Oakfield, Wis.) all added eight points. Tester also had a team-high six rebounds. Tom Sawatzke led the balanced attack for Carleton with 14 points.
The Saints will return home next week for a pair of games against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) schools. On Wednesday, the Saints will host bridge rival UW-Superior and then next Sunday they will host UW-River Falls.
