WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. - Freshman #Kasey Bacso# (Fr.-Plumouth, Minn./Wayzata) yielded another top finish among junior competitors this week while leading the Saints men with an 80th place finish overall in the West Yellowstone USSA Supertour and Continental Cup 10km classic.

Bacso finished in a time of 33:30.06, 4:24 off of the winning time of Garrot Kuzzy of the US Ski Team in 29:25.8. Kuzzy outpaced 2006 Olympian, Chris Cook by 2.9 seconds for the win. Sean Crooks of the Canadian National Team finished third, 29.2 seconds back of Kuzzy in 29:55.1. Freshman #Ryan Wright# (Fr.-Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake) posted a 95th place overall finish, 22nd among juniors. Junior #Matt Nistler# (Jr.-Bemidji, Minn.) finished 102nd.

After a fifth place among juniors (19 and under) on Wednesay's classic sprint, Bacso posted a other solid performance as 13th junior in today's distance classic race.

"Kasey wasn't overly pleased with the race, but I tink it was a solid effort," said Saints head coach Chad Salmela. "How we approach these races, this early, at this altitiude, I want to see things that don't necessarily jive with the racer's expectaions. None felt like their races were great, but I saw great work on technique by all three men today, and I know in a little while their race form will improve, so no matter what the skiers feel, I was happy with what I saw out there today."

The Saints skiers compete again next weekend at the Wildcat Invitational in Marquette, Mich., weather permitting.
