ABERDEEN, S.D. – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie this afternoon at Presentation College.

The Saints, who lost at Presentation last season, has an overall record of 8-1-2 and an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) mark of 5-1-1. Presentation is now 3-5-2 overall and 1-4-2 in the UMAC.

CSS got on the scoreboard first when #Brandon Stemwedel# (So.-Grand Rapids, Minn.) scored his third goal of the season, unassisted, 10 minutes into the match. With 4:20 seconds left in the first half, Presentation squared the match with a goal from Brandon Spanier.

With 12 minutes left in the second half, the Saints received a penalty kick, but were unable to convert. Presentation then hit the crossbar on a shot with over three minutes to play in regulation and the match went into overtime.

St. Scholastica would get another penalty kick in the first overtime, but yet again was unable to capitalize. The Saints got one shot on net in the second overtime, but it was turned away as CSS and Presentation settled for a 1-1 tie.

The Saints out-shot Presentation 19-5 and held Presentation to just shot after halftime. #Sam Reed# (So.-Eastbourne, England/Causeway) made two saves for the Saints, while Joe Romero had seven saves for Presentation. Presentation committed a total of 17 fouls in the match to CSS's eight.

The Saints will be on the road again next weekend when they play at Bethany Lutheran College on Friday and Martin Luther College on Saturday. The Bethany Lutheran match is scheduled to begin at approximately 3 p.m. following the women's match.
