DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team avenged an earlier season tie at Presentation College today with a 3-1 victory over the Saints.

CSS improves to 13-2-2 overall and 10-1-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). Presentation falls to 5-7-3 overall and 3-6-3 in the conference. The Saints need to win out, which means handing the University of Minnesota-Morris its first conference loss tomorrow, to have any chance at a regular season championship. The Saints then need Morris to tie or lose to Presentation in the regular season finale.

After the first 38 minutes went scoreless, the Saints broke through with a goal from #Jermaine Dacres# (Jr.-Nottingham, England/Haywood Comprehensive). That is Dacres' fourth of the season. #Dustin James# (Jr.-Superior, Wis.) had the assist.

In the second half, CSS added to its lead with a #Cody Sveiven# (Jr.-Coon Rapids, Minn.) goal, his third of the season, in the 52nd minute. Dacres and #Toby Peter# (Jr.-Spalt, Germany/J.S. Bach) had the assists. Just 20 seconds later, Presentation cut the lead in half with a nice-looking goal that snuck inside the right post.

However, the Saints would get a big insurance goal when #Geofrey Kalanzi# (Jr.-Eden Prairie, Minn.) had an equally nice-looking goal in the upper left corner of the net in the 60th minute to make it a 3-1 contest. That was Kalanzi's first goal as a Saint. Sveiven and Peter had the assists. That is how it ended as the Saints prevailed 3-1.

The Saints out-shot Presentation 21-11. #Sam Reed# (So.-Eastbourne, England/Causeway) had three saves to earn the win in net for CSS. Joe Romero had six saves in the loss from Presentation. CSS committed just three fouls, compared to 18 for Presentation.

The Saints will face conference unbeaten, Minnesota-Morris, tomorrow afternoon at Saints Field. The match will begin at approximately 2 p.m., following the women's match. It can be seen live, courtesy of the iFan Sports Network, at csssaints.com.
