Kevin Moore was hired as the school's 11th Head Men's Hockey Coach in July of 2020
Moore comes over from Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) foe Adrian College (Mich.), where he spent the previous two seasons as an assistant for the Bulldogs. This past season with Adrian, the Bulldogs captured the NCHA Regular Season and Tournament championships, but had their season cut short before stepping on the ice in the NCAA Division III Tournament due to COVID-19. It marked the first time since 2015-16 they had captured both titles in the same season. In his time at Adrian, Moore coached the defensemen where he oversaw three All-American performers.
Prior to Adrian, Moore spent two years at NCAA Division I Princeton University (N.J.) where he was the Director of Hockey Operations. At Princeton, Moore coached the goaltenders and assisted the coaching staff with systematic and practice planning, as well as, player development for players across all positions. He also managed video for game preparation and player skill enhancement.
In his time with the Tigers, Princeton won the 2018 ECAC Hockey championship in an epic run as the No. 7 seed in the tournament to make the NCAA Tournament.
Other previous stops include being the goaltender coach at the University of New Hampshire from 2014-16 and at the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs for three seasons.
The Belle Mead, New Jersey native was a goaltender at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where he graduated in 2012. A cum laude graduate of UMass with a degree in journalism, Moore was a two-time winner of UMass Hockey's Minuteman Spirit Award; for having exemplified dedication, determination, character and sportsmanship.
“I am looking forward to helping our student-athletes get out of their comfort zones in both the classroom and on the ice, while helping them make connections between life and hockey,” explained Moore. “I expect our student athletes to be in the present minded everyday so they can focus on developing discipline in the little details that bring long term success. CSS Hockey will be a destination for student-athletes who are selfless and who want to thrive on the ice, in the classroom, and in the community.”
In the summer of 2018, Moore took part as one of the first collegiate coaches to go to China and run a hockey school in Beijing in association with ECAC and the Kontinental Hockey League’s Kunlun Redstar. Moore was also part of the USA Hockey U-18 coaching staff at the 2019 Hlinka/Gretzky Cup. For three years he was part of the USA Hockey National Player Development selection camps.
Moore has been published in many hockey publications, most notably in The Hockey News where his article "The Pride of Princeton" described his time as a youth hockey player at Baker Rink. In 2015, he co-authored with Matt Lawrence a goalie training book entitled "Ironman Goaltending: The Pro’s Guide to Home Off-Ice Goaltending Development."
