Andrew Schmitz

Andrew Schmitz enters his seventh season as Associate Head Coach under Coach Staniger for the 2020-21 season.

Schmitz, who graduated from The College of St. Scholastica in 2008 with a Degree in Secondary Education Social Studies, returned to CSS after spending five seasons as head men’s basketball coach at Itasca Community College.

The Hinckley, Minnesota native played for Coach Staniger from 2004-06 and the 2007-08 seasons. Schmitz was a two-time team captain and was an All-UMAC choice in 2007-08 and an honorable mention selection in 2005-06.

He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player for the 2005-06 and 2007-08 seasons. Schmitz played his freshman season at Central Lakes College where he was named All-Northern Division.

Schmitz was a student assistant for the CSS men’s basketball program during the 2006-07 season and was an assistant for one year upon graduating in 2008-09, the last time the Saints won both the UMAC Regular Season and Tournament championships.
