Brandon Swartz was named the Baseball program’s interim head coach in the Fall of 2021 after spending the last 10 seasons as an assistant, including the last six as a full-time assistant.
The Hermantown, Minnesota native was a three-sport star in high school and led his high school baseball team to the state tournament for three straight seasons. He also was named to the Lion’s All-Star Team which recognizes the best senior baseball players in the state of Minnesota.
“I look forward to helping lead our program to a World Series and am honored to be part of a program with such a strong tradition,” said Swartz. “The quality of our athletes as students and community members is something we all take great pride in. The foundation of our success is the relationships we build, relationships that extend beyond the four years our players wear a Saints uniform.”
Brandon began his career as a player for CSS in 2004 and was named the team’s rookie of the year that season after appearing in 40 games. Brandon continued to be a contributor every year in the Saints lineup and would appear in 159 games over his four-year career. His best season was his junior year when he hit .395 and earned All Midwest Region honors. He followed up his junior campaign with an even more impressive senior year by hitting .420 and once again being named to the All-Midwest Region Team.
Over his career Swartz collected 151 hits, scored 125 runs and drove in 120, while finishing with a .354 career batting average. He was named all-conference all four years as a Saint and also helped lead his team to four National Tournaments. Swartz was inducted into the CSS Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
