MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The St. Scholastica women's basketball team turned in a strong defensive performance Wednesday night, earning a 63–50 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road victory over Augsburg University at Si Melby Hall.
The Saints (13–5, 8–3 MIAC) controlled the game for most of the night, holding Augsburg to 27.9 percent shooting from the field and forcing 18 turnovers, while building a lead that grew to as many as 21 points late in the contest.
Ava Haus (St. Michael, MN/St. Michael-Albertville High School) led all scorers with 20 points, adding six rebounds, four steals, and three assists in a well-rounded effort. Kloey Lind (Pine City, MN/Pine City HS) followed with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. St. Scholastica asserted itself inside early, outscoring Augsburg 32–18 in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 39–32. The Saints built an early advantage by limiting the Auggies to just eight points in the opening quarter, then opened the game up with a decisive 20–7 third quarter.
Despite a late push from Augsburg in the fourth, St. Scholastica maintained control by converting 18-of-25 free throws and continuing to generate quality looks at the rim.
