Orlando, Fl. – The Saint Scholastica men's tennis team competed in the final match of their Spring break trip to Florida today, against the Dutch of Central College. Today's match ended with the Saints taking home their first win of the trip, succeeding with a score of 4-3.

Doubles
Jack Onkka (Thief River Falls, Minn./) and Dane Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) at the No. 2 doubles match secured the Saints' largest margin of victory in doubles, winning with a score of 6-3. Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) and Eamon Gerrard-Stace (Brisbane, Au./St Joseph's Nudgee College) took the No. 1 singles spot for the Saints. The duo of Abeleda and Gerrard-Stace captured victory with a score of 6-4, securing the doubles point for the Saints.
Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Alex Daigneault (Agua Dulce, Calif./Hart HS) competed at No. 3 doubles, coming up short against the Dutch, finishing with a score of 4-6.
Singles
Abeleda, Harper Dircks (Hopkins, Minn.) and Jose Naranjo () competed in the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 singles. All three Saints finished ahead of their competition. Abeleda beat the Dutch with scores of 6-4 and 6-2. Dircks finished with scores similar to Abeleda, 6-3 and 6-4. Naranjo was the final Saint of the day to claim a victory, coming out on top scoring 6-4 in both of his sets.
Timon Herrmann () did not make it easy for the Dutch, forcing a tie-breaker in his second set, but falling short in the third set, finishing with scores of 6-2, 6-7, and 0-1.
Drew Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS), who competed in the No. 5 singles, and Andy Shaffer (Buffalo, Minn./) who competed in the No. 3 singles match both ended shy of victory. Anderson finished his match with scores of 3-6 in both of his two sets. Shaffer finished his two sets, scoring 1-6 in both.
What's Next
The Saints (6-4, 2-1 MIAC) will return to Duluth, Min. to host the Royals (8-3, 2-0 MIAC) on Saturday, March 22. The match is scheduled to take place at 4 p.m.
